A self-described “Professional Music Fan,” Derrick is celebrated for his affinity for unearthing music and educating audiences on sounds that transcend genres - from Tokyo jazz and ambient soundscapes to obscure soul, city pop, and left-field electronica.
As part of his Elbphilharmonie residency, Derrick was approached with the subject of what he would like to create. The idea emerged to film a classical vinyl DJ set in the center of the Grand Hall. The result is an hour-long set that spans music from Pärt to Pollini, Liu to Lisiecki and Richter to Rattle, which you can now watch below.
