Derrick Gee - Elbphilharmonie’s ‘Creator in Residence’ performs Minimal Classical Vinyl Mix from The Grand Hall

Australian taste maker and cross-genre crate digger Derrick Gee has been named Elbphilharmonie’s Creator-in-Residence for the 2024/25 season.

A self-described “Professional Music Fan,” Derrick is celebrated for his affinity for unearthing music and educating audiences on sounds that transcend genres - from Tokyo jazz and ambient soundscapes to obscure soul, city pop, and left-field electronica.

As part of his Elbphilharmonie residency, Derrick was approached with the subject of what he would like to create. The idea emerged to film a classical vinyl DJ set in the center of the Grand Hall. The result is an hour-long set that spans music from Pärt to Pollini, Liu to Lisiecki and Richter to Rattle, which you can now watch below.
