Flourish

We are delighted to announce the release of the debut EP Flourish by our newly signed artist Meredi. The classically trained German-Armenian writes, performs and produces expressive, intimate, melody-driven music, and has been playing the piano for as long as she can remember. “The piano was always my island or retreat,” she says, “it’s still more intuitive for me to speak through music than with words.” She works in different genres from solo piano miniatures and to large-scale orchestral works for theatre, ballet or the concert hall, as well as music for film and television.  

All six tracks of the EP Flourish are subtly connected by a single musical theme. This creates an itinerant tune that is forever in search of a home, while simultaneously becoming a place to which the music consistently returns, which provokes an unsettling sense of both welcome security as well as a yearning for stability.  

This musical theme also lingers in the fragile track “Ararat,” which above all works with  traditional melodies Meredi’s father once sang and for which she has produced a performance video also released today.
