Deutsche Grammophon continues the genre-defying project Fragments, an invitation from Deutsche Grammophon for thirteen leading electronic artists to respond to a single composer. With one single released each month, Fragments gradually builds over the course of a year.
“I was captivated by Cortège’s main melody, I instantly felt a connection to the piece upon the first listen and I knew this was the composition I wanted to immerse myself in for this project. I listened and analysed its core. I honed in on the beautiful harmony and with it I crafted a new approach and structure. While reimagining it within my musical universe, I aimed to preserve the essence of the piece and I feel that everything I created was somehow inherent to the piece its itself”. – Marta Cascales Alimbau.
FRAGMENTS – the album project celebrating music past and present by inviting some of today’s most innovative artists - goes into the second season by reworking the compositions of composer Lili Boulanger featuring Marta Cascales Alimbau with Cortège.
