Haunting melodies run through Pendant World, the keenly awaited second Deutsche Grammophon album from Texas-based band Balmorhea. Its 13 tracks dissolve hard genre boundaries to reveal a broad spectrum of styles, textures, rhythms and colours. Found sounds, samples, vinyl recordings, synths, brass and flutes are newly added to Balmorhea’s regular “voices” of piano, acoustic guitars and strings.
